


2008 SPECIAL EDUCATION "YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE" AWARDEES
Livermore High is proud to announce that Carol Hovey, Jennifer Jensen, Linda Lamoureux and Patricia Renn-Gogny are recipients of the "You Make a Difference" award. They will be honored on Wednesday, May 14, at Amador Valley High School's multi-purpose room, 1155 Santa Rita Road, Pleasanton, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. These awards were established to celebrate the special education youth throughout the Tri-Valley and to provide an opportunity for families to acknowledge individuals who have gone "above and beyond" to make a difference in the lives of their children with special needs.

PLANT SALE, THURSDAY, MAY 22
The Agriculture Department is having a plant sale on Thursday, May 22 from 3:45-5:30 p.m. at the school greenhouses located next to the baseball fields. LHS JUNIOR IS A WINNER IN NATIONAL ESSAY CONTEST
Katy Sanlis, a junior at LHS, has been invited to attend an expense-paid, week-long session of the Washington Workshops Congressional Seminar in Washington, D.C., June 21-27, 2008. She is a winner in the national essay contest through The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. Her essay entitled, "IF YOU WERE A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, WHAT DOMESTIC ISSUE WOULD YOU CONSIDER MOST IMPORTANT AND WHAT WOULD YOU DO ABOUT IT?" was judged locally, regionally and nationally from entries from all over the United States. LHS congratulates Katy on this award.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ROBOTICS CLUB, ROBOFEST 2008 WORLD CHAMPIONS!
Seniors Drew Accornero, Daniel Handrock, Robert Hobson, and Saqib Mohammad, along with instructor, Mike Waltz, traveled to Southfield, Michigan on Saturday, April 26 to compete in the 2008 Robofest World Championships.
The team competed against 156 teams from as far away as South Korea, England, and France to see who could build and program the best autonomous mobile robots. In the Senior Game division, the LHS team scored 270 out of a possible 300 points to win the competition. In addition to receiving a first place trophy, each student on the team received a $2,000 LTU scholarship. Way to go RoboCowboys!
LIVERMORE-GRANADA BOOSTERS OLYMPIAN AWARDS BANQUET
The 59th Annual Livermore-Granada Boosters Awards Banquet will take place on May 19th, 6:30 p.m., at the Robert Livermore Community Center.
This year's nominees for the Olympian Scholarships presented to scholar-athletes at Livermore and Granada High Schools are:
GHS BOYS: Scott Bueno, Andrew Engdahl, Brandon Fischer
GHS GIRLS: Jessica Burton, Erin Osborne, Rebecca Sabtini
LHS GIRLS: Andrea Lagorio, Kayleigh Torres, Kelly Wilgus
LHS BOYS: Brett Christopher, Jacob Sylvester, Justin Witt
Tickets are $25 per adult; two adults for $45; $10 per child. Varsity athletes are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased either from the Activities Office at Livermore High or with a credit card on-line through the Granada Boosters' web site at www.livermoregranadaboosters.org. There is a small processing fee for the on-line purchase.
BANDWORKS SCHOOL OF ROCK SUMMER CAMP
Bandworks offers two different summer camp programs for kids and teens ages 8 through 16. Each program provides a supportive environment for young musicians to develop their skills while having fun playing the music they love. Morning and afternoon camps are offered Monday through Friday, weekly from June 16-August 15 at Burnin Burro Studios in Livermore and throughout the Bay Area. CELL PHONES, PAGERS, AND OTHER ELECTRONICS - Students are allowed to use cell phones and pagers on campus only before or after school, during breaks, or at lunch. Students are never allowed to use cell phones or pagers in class. Cell phones must always be turned off during class time. Teachers may take cell phones or pagers from students if the cell phone or pager goes off or is visible in class. On the first occurrence the cell phone or pager will be held in the office until the end of the day. On the second occurrence a parent will be required to pick up the cell phone. A third offense will be reason for suspension. The school and the staff will not be responsible if confiscated cell phones or pagers are lost or damaged.

SCHOOL LOOP REPLACES IN-TOUCH ON-LINE - School Loop is a web-based education service that will provide a free homework e-mail and a web site specifically relating to your child at Livermore High. Parents and students can register in School Loop at any time. Once you have registered and the school year has begun, you may access information about your student's classes and assignments.
